Regenerative Design
Challenge:
Oosterwold is an experimental urban district where 18,000 homes are being built in an agricultural landscape. The challenge: how do we ensure that residents' initiatives, government, farmers, and developers collaborate to accelerate major transitions in housing, agriculture, and climate?
Our role:
Protopia Studio guided the process towards professional stakeholders, identified challenges, translated these into a substantive program, and organized partnerships and funding. Together with local initiators and artists, we created a day full of art, dialogue, and systems thinking.
Impact / result:
The event brought together approximately 40 key figures and resulted in concrete proposals such as an area cooperative, water workshops, and inspirational tours. The province of Flevoland expressed its ambition to follow up with more meetings and interventions. Oosterwold was thus positioned as a testing ground for broad prosperity and a vibrant society.
