Every transition begins with a new narrative : a vision of the future that is firmly anchored in the present.
Together with partners, we investigate complex issues and reduce them to their core. We always consider systems as a whole and from all perspectives: human and natural.
Research and vision development for the City of Amsterdam, focused on the city as a regenerative ecosystem. The project resulted in design principles, models, and policy proposals that help the city give back more than it takes.

Research and design for a revamped Amsterdam Smart City platform. Protopia Studio conducted user research, data analysis, and developed a new proposition and platform concept.

Concept & Design
Innovative concepts, systems and places that shape the regenerative society.
As a creative studio we design regenerative concepts: from digital services to spatial interventions.
For us, there's no separation between the physical and digital domains – both are necessary in the transition to a new narrative. Technology is never an end in itself, but always a means to an end.
An initial design vision for a holistic center dedicated to healing, education, and community building. The Taralena Center explores how Integral Theory and regenerative principles can be translated into architectural and landscape design.

In a design sprint, Protopia Studio, in collaboration with the City of Amsterdam, developed a prototype app: the Broad Prosperity Meter. The app allows civil servants to reflect on their work and team in relation to Broad Prosperity (Brede Welvaart) through statements, thus opening up the discussion about values beyond economic growth.

In our toolkit, we combine regenerative methods like permaculture, systems thinking, and biobased design with innovation techniques like design thinking and lean startup.
We work iteratively and experimentally, drawing on both reason and emotion, always connecting with people, places, and nature. This creates processes, services, and spaces that give concrete shape to a regenerative society.

Co-creation & Realization
Guidance for groups and organisations in co-creation, both in vision and concept as well as in implementation.
In a fragmented and complex world , we focus on what really matters.
We guide groups and organisations in co-creation, with interactive and experience-oriented working methods that activate the collective creative power .
A place-based workshop in Almere Oosterwold brought together residents, farmers, government officials, and developers to explore new forms of collaboration. Protopia Studio guided the process and connected government and developers with residents' initiatives.

In a design sprint, Protopia Studio, together with the City of Amsterdam, developed the Broad Prosperity Scan: a tool for comprehensively assessing the effects of policy proposals on ten themes of broad prosperity (Brede Welvaart), both here and now and in the future.

We translate vision and concepts into concrete programs and projects, including the preconditions and organizational details. We organize teams and monitor project frameworks.
We build coalitions and collaborate with a broad network of partners . This way, we make complex issues feasible and build bridges between vision and reality.
