ENT gives nature a voice at the design table in area development. As an AI-supported conversation partner, ENT brings ecological perspectives into the moments when design choices are made: early, concretely and specific to place.

Research and vision development for the City of Amsterdam, exploring the city as a regenerative ecosystem. The project resulted in design principles, models and policy proposals that help the city transform towards a regenerative society.

Regenerative agriculture works when the business case works. We helped establish the Rabobank Carbon Bank to explore and scale viable revenue models around regenerative agriculture and forestry. With tangible results: forests planted, carbon stored, and farmers earning from nature restoration.

A dashboard that helps growers make decisions based on cultivation data instead of intuition and experience alone. This saves energy, fertilisers, pesticides and water, and therefore costs for the grower.

FMO, the Dutch entrepreneurial development bank, did not have a good way to translate customer needs into new products. Together with innovation studio Aim for the Moon, an innovation programme was created that led to a dedicated accelerator, enabling FMO customers to develop new digital services aligned with real market needs.

An initial design vision for a holistic centre dedicated to healing, education and community building. The Taralena Center explores how Integral Theory and regenerative principles can be translated into architectural and landscape design.

In the coffee region around Mount Elgon in Uganda, deforestation, soil erosion and dependence on firewood have affected local farmers' living standards for years. This project for fair trade cooperative Coffee-A-Cup addressed the issue with 13,000 improved cookstoves and 5 million planted trees, resulting in more than 200,000 tonnes of CO2 reduction and better incomes for the region.

A travel startup and app that guides tourists to less-visited places, supports local entrepreneurs and makes the city more liveable. Protopia Studio was venture co-founder and responsible for strategy, design and product development.

A workshop in Almere Oosterwold where residents, farmers, civil servants and developers came together to explore new forms of collaboration. Protopia Studio guided the process and brought government and developers into dialogue with resident initiatives.

The mission: bring light to the lives of everyone still living in the dark. A product and business model around a solar-powered lamp made this possible. Hundreds of thousands of people without access to electricity received a free solar lamp, funded by sales in the global West.

In a design sprint with the City of Amsterdam, Protopia Studio developed the Broad Prosperity Scan: a tool for assessing the effects of policy proposals across ten themes of broad prosperity, both in the here and now and in the future.

Protopia Studio designed a sketch for a food cooperative based on permaculture principles. The plan includes a market garden, food forest, education hub and cooperative market. It creates a blueprint for local area cooperatives that generate ecological, social and educational synergies.

Many small boats in Amsterdam do not have a fixed berth with a charger, making it difficult to switch to electric boating. The portable Voltogo battery can be charged at home or at waterfront cafes in Amsterdam. The fast-charging network expands boating range, brings new customers to cafes and saves the municipality a major investment in public charging points.

Commissioned by the City of Amsterdam, Protopia Studio conceived, designed and delivered Innovatiepartners.nl: the platform for innovative entrepreneurs who want to collaborate with public organisations.

A self-developed phone safe designed to counter smartphone addiction. Place one to four smartphones inside, set the timer and enjoy time without distraction. The product was halted by high start-up costs, but the campaign went viral and created lasting impact by bringing this social issue into public view.

What keeps you awake at night? Seventy percent of Dutch people answer that question with long-term financial worries. At ABN AMRO, we developed an intuitive application that makes the complex, labour-intensive and expensive process of financial planning accessible to everyone. The result: happier customers and a positive business case.

A vision and concept study for a new retreat centre in Sri Lanka, on a former tea plantation. The Temple of Tārā is a sanctuary for female empowerment, regenerative living and intercultural connection.

Research and design for a renewed Amsterdam Smart City platform. Protopia Studio conducted user research and data analysis, and developed a new proposition and platform concept.

In a design sprint with the City of Amsterdam, Protopia Studio developed a prototype app: the Broad Prosperity Meter. Through a set of statements, the app helps civil servants reflect on their work and team in relation to broad prosperity, opening up a conversation about values beyond economic growth.
